About Us

Ihasha and Alex have been partners for over 20 years, working together as freelance journalists, landscape advisors, and teachers.

Ihasha is an award-winning literature professor who initiated a Sustainability Program at his college to create a micro food forest and pollinator garden. Focusing on edible landscaping and pollinator-friendly plants, he was recognized for the first Monarch Way Station at a Florida state college. He is passionate about plantings that feed people and pollinators.

Alex is a science communicator and biologist. She has led conservation outreach programs throughout Southwest Florida and run communications teams for NOAA, focusing on deescalating conflicts across marine spaces.

While always having a profound love of nature in their backyard, the combination of COVID and a new baby the month after lockdown gave them the opportunity to focus on creating a yard that allowed their family places to explore, food to grow, and to create a haven for the species we share our urban landscapes with. After years of helping friends and family with their yards, they knew they wanted to share their passion with others, and Fox Forest Design was launched.

“We do this for the next generation.”
